![]() Brita 42633 Faucet Filtration System, Black/Chrome By: Brita Average Rating: 3.0 Total Reviews: 64 More Information Absolute Garbage! What a waste of $30! The poor quality construction is beyond belief! Plastic screws just dont work and eventually leak, with water splattering all over... Save your money, this is garbage! Defective by design I installed this filter having high hopes for it. The first hint of a problem came early on, I had to use a plastic adapter to screw it onto my internally threaded faucet. Seemingly low-grade plastic on plastic I thought? Surely the designers must know what they are doing. Flash to twenty minutes later. The whole assembly pops off spraying water everywhere. I managed to jury-rig it for about three months, but lately there have been a series of failures until tonight it gave out entirely. If you have an internally threaded faucet, DO NOT BUY THIS FILTER. If you get it working at all, it will not stay that way. Created with flimsy plastic materials The brita filter functions well - it filters the water and it tastes better than your regular tap water. However it comes with flimsy plastic accessories. If you screw it even a little bit tight it "snaps" past the groove and becomes completely loose. You can also easily knock it off the faucet while washing dishes if the dish or your hand bumps into it. I kept screwing it back on but eventually got tired of it. If you want a filter - buy one that does not have plastic screws. Definitely would not buy this item again. Poor workmanship This, this filter thing, is a turd. I dont mean to be vulgar; this product falls short of any expectations of decent service. The plastic threads are a warning sign; the lack of plastic threads available to make a tight seal on the faucet are precious few with the rubber washer in place. If you enjoy surprises in the form of water spraying in your face when you turn on the water, then Brita has you covered. Be prepared to tighten the little gem hard without the washer to keep some sense of sanity in the kitchen sink, then keep your fingers crossed. Oh yeah. The LED light may stop working before your first filter has seen its service duty. No matter: Attempting to revive the light according to Brita instructions will not disappoint you if you prefer not to be surprised; it will fail on cue. Water taste might be better with the pitcher as well. These are my experiences and opinions. I used a Brita pitcher for years with satisfaction, but now would prefer a method at the faucet, and Brita seems to excel in areas other than on-faucet. Anomaly? Turd. Does the job, easy to install The only issue I have w/ it is the fact that the light on the filter stopped working. I am hoping that it is just the filter and once I get a new one it will be fine. Otherwise, it is great! So far, so good! So far we have had no problems with our filter! Im not sure if its in my head or not, but I think our water actually tastes better, and I definitely FEEL better knowing that we are drinking water that is healthier for us. Also, Im glad to be done with bottled water because, first of all, its more expensive. Money adds up! Also, were still getting the fluoride we need by drinking tap water. I think we made a great choice. What happened? I bought one of these about 6 years ago. It worked well, never fell off. I could taste the difference in my water. The light stopped working, so I decided to buy a new one recently. What a waste of money! It has cheaper parts-the plastic adapter is ridiculous. I went to the hardware store and got a metal one. Now, instead of falling off three times a days it falls off once every three or four days. I will try to use it until the filter wears out and then buy something else. This filter is absolutely terrible. Unbelievable how much the quality has declined from six years ago. falls off the faucet Had good previous experience of this product in another home. Purchased this hoping for same quality. Product would not stay on faucet, even with included adapters. Would turn on faucet only to have Brita filter fall off and water go everywhere. Called Brita, who apparently is aware of this problem, said it happens all the time. They are sending new set of updated adapters free of charge. Hopefully this will correct the problem. If Brita Co. is aware of this situation and saying its very common, why is it not addressed in original package? why not INCLUDE the right adapters to begin with? I bought a Brita faucet water filtration system. I struggled to installed it with the included plastic adapters, but it would pop off. So I called the Brita customer service(1-800-24-BRITA) and they said they would send me out the non-plastic faucet adapters and that should fix the problem. OK great...I get the nice metal adapters and I get it installed. Every so often it would pop off, we would reattach it until one day when it would not reattach. So I called Brita customer service(1-800-24-BRITA). They said the threads were probably stripped due to trying to install it with the plastic adapters which had come with the unit. They sent me out a whole new unit, with a new filter. Why not just include the nice metal adapters to begin with? Think of how many people give up on this product without calling customer service(1-800-24-BRITA)...not good for the brand name and bad for the landfills. Problems It started leaking after too short period of time. The same problem happened in my sisters unit. You can patch it with a special tape but it takes quite a while. Low quality product. Like the others say, a terrible product. Despite its seemingly universal design, the included adapter wont fit your sink and once installed it will work for a few minutes, giving you the glimmering illusion of future days of cups quickly filled with filtered water. But soon it will pry loose under the pressure, will start spewing and pouring water everywhere before falling off and breaking any dishes in your sink. Ive really, really struggled to make this work. Seriously. I wanted it to work. But ultimately a miserable product and $60 (incl extra filters) forever lost. filters well, but breaks easily eventually through using the switch to select the spray or filter the units cheap plastic threads will be damaged and the unit will leak or pop off completely when water pressure is applied. This is my third unit in 3 years, and I plan on never buying this again. For me to save money versus lugging bottled water home I need to have it last me more than a year or two. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR...CALL BRITA IMMEDIATELY AND ASK FOR METAL CONNECTORS In reference to the connection problems everyone is having ...save yourself potential headache and IMMEDIATELY call the Brita 800 # and ask for metal connectors. I havent had success keeping the connection tight without the metal ones. The cheap plastic connectors included in the original package are almost guaranteed to fail. Brita must know this...I wish they would fix this problem and just include the metal ones standard. GREAT!! Its just great the best low price ,and shipped my item 1 day before I expect. Plastic threads The threads inside this device are plastic. The threads on the piece that attaches to the sink are also plastic. Very bad design. An extra twist and the threads will become ruined, the filter will end up falling off your faucet. Designs in previous years never had this problem. Back to PUR, which still includes metal threaded pieces (yes, on the device itself as well). The water taste great! I purchased this with the intent of buying less spring water and trying to filter and drink tap water. I have not drank tap water in over 7 years and the tap water where I live taste disgusting ( I drank some on accident once). I used this filter and the water is spectacular! I was pleasantly surprised. I must admit I was pessimistic and did not think it would actually change the taste of the water but it really did. Before I went with this particular filter I looked at comparisons of the various ones available. I looked at what chemicals etc... they state they remove from the water and compared it to what is most harmful and likely to be present in the water. Although this filter did not filter the MOST chemicals out of tap water compared to some of the others. It was sufficient for my needs and within my price range. As far as I am concerned you get a lot for $15 bucks, which is what I will pay after my $10 rebate. Compared to some of the more expensive ones that were over $100 and did not do much more. One problem I did find with this filter is that the washers that come with it to install it are cheap! When I turned on the water after installing the faucet with the accompanying tools it just fell right off. I went to Lowes and took the washer etc... that came with it for the size information and one of the associates helped me find one that would fit and stay on. And it was less than $1. I installed it with what I purchased from Lowes and now it is perfect. Doesnt move a bit. I would definitely recommend this product, but just keep in mind if you have to use one of the 2 pieces for the faucet head, on your sink you will most likely need to go buy your own (less than $1) if you actually want it to stay on! Bad Dont Buy it Bad, Bad, Bad. To Start the piece that screws this product to your sink is plastic and because the threads are "fine" one twist to many and the entire thing is ruined. Plus even if you opt out for a steel one (purchased from your local hardware store) it wont help any because the threads inside the device are also plastic and its very likely damaged from the previous extra twist. Horrible design, but good idea. I owned a simular device about 5 years ago and it was all aluminum. Do yourself a favor and just get the pitcher instead. Cheap Construction They really need to use metal adapters and threads on the unit. After a couple uses, I would turn on the filter and the whole thing would fall right off the faucet. I guess I have high water pressure because the plastic threads were striped. No...I did not tighten it with a wrench. I went through 2 units before I gave up and bought a Pur system. Pur uses metal. Followup. I just got an e-mail from Brita. They were shocked this happened and said they would not expect something like that to happen. Then they said the would send me metal adapters. What? If you are so shocked and this is unexpected...why do you have metal replacement adapters to send out? This sounds like a known issue to me, and they only send metal adapters if you complain. Britta faucet connect just OK - mechanical design somewhat weak. My wife likes the faucet mounted filters. This is our 3rd of this model. Two of them did not seal well over time to the faucet end - started squirting water all around and the threads on the Brita stripped out. the little connector piece should probably be made of metal. We like the taste of the water we get out of the faucet and feel the value is pretty good. Brita you're slipping................... Brita 42633 Faucet Filtration System, Black/Chrome This purchase was a replacement purchase. The one I bought before this was identical, except that it leaked and kept falling off the faucet. I used plumbers tape, changed the gasket and did everything I could to make it work without success. Ive never had this problem before with the Brita filter systems Ive purchased, thats pretty much why I took a chance and bought another. This one went on without a problem and didnt leak, and so far one full day of use hasnt fallen off the faucet. Great filter, slight installation problem This is a great little filter that makes my well water taste like high-quality bottled water. The problem was how it attaches to the faucet head. Its very fiddly, and it took some time to get it tightened enough not to leak without overtigtening it and having it pop off when I turned on the water. I love the filter, but have to remember not to use the pivot or Ill have to go through the whole process of putting it on again. Better than Pur Ive used a Pur faucet filter before, and found it much more difficult to install, bulkier, and less reliable (it sprung leaks again and again). This Brita was no hassle to attach, once I managed to remove my faucets aerator. The chrome look is attractive, and the water tastes great. I use this to make tea every day. Others have complained about the filters not lasting as long as advertised. Yes and no. Ive found that when the light turns amber, you can remove the cartridge, shake it, and then replace it to get several more weeks of green light. In other words, the problem isnt so much with the filters as with the feedback system. If youre using this for about a gallon of water per day, Id expect each filter to last 3-4 months. Two replacement filters cost about as much as the system itself, so keep that in mind when you make the investment. ADAPTORS I purchased this item and have had only one problem with it. If your facet threads are inside then you have to use one of the provided plastic adaptors. I did but every time I turned on the water the unit fell off of the facet. I tried several times making sure that it was tight and it still did the same thing. I contacted Brita.com and got a number to call (800-24-BRITA(27482)) and they sent a new set of special adaptors free of charge. It now works great. The problem that I see is; that this seems to be a known problem for which there is a free fix, so why are they still selling them with inferior adapters? broke in a little over a month We bought this back in December 2008, and it already stopped working properly. The little green light doesnt come on anymore so you basically have to guess when its done. Conveniently it broke just after the warranty period so we couldnt return it. Free bath with every filter Had one of these eons ago. You know, back when they shipped with metal adaptors? sigh... Anyway, I hated them passionately back then. Just found them in the way all the time BUT they never popped off. However, my wife likes them. Idiot that I am I bought one for her birthday a while back. So, in the past year went thru 3 of them. Yes, popping off. And oddly enough, we have a hose that has a filter in it. Has a button thats either spray or filtered. Thats handy. But, she wont use it. Gotta have the britta. Go figger. In the process of glueing the adapter to the filter to see if that works as a last resort. In a way, Im hoping it doesnt work! :) Brita Faucet Filter Works Well This product seems to do everything they say it will, and Im quite pleased with the purchase. This looks sharper than the chrome and white model in my opinion (this one was chrome and black). Id recommend the product, and Amazon shipped it right away as well, so the whole experience has been very positive. Works Great!! Works as promoted. Unbelieveable difference between with or without. Our coffee tastes like coffee again. Defective by Design I may be reiterating what many of the reviewers before me have said, but I may have a few helpful points to add. First, they should have never used plastic adapters. Kitchen faucets with internal threads are quite common and the likelihood is high that you will have to use one of the included adapters to attach the filter to that kind of faucet. The plastic threading simply cant withstand the water pressure that will inevitably push on it when you turn the water on all the way. It would have been very easy for them to use quality steel parts, and Im sure most people would have been happy to even pay $5-10 more for something that will actually last. It is especially surprising that they would cut corners on a product where the real profit comes from the replacement filters rather than the original purchase. Who knows what they were thinking (or if they were thinking at all), but this product simply doesnt work when setup correctly. The use of plastic is not where the problems end, however, because there is literally less than a half an inch of exposed threading within the top portion of the adapter. The adapters themselves also have around a quarter inch of threading. This is really a shame, because even using a weak material like plastic might be sufficient if they had enough threads engaging to strengthen the connection. That said, if you are set on using this product (or forced to), here are a couple of things you can do to help alleviate the problem. Ive gotten mine to work long enough for me to order something from one of their competitors. - Turn the water pressure down on your faucet. In case you dont know how, there are usually two levers (one hot, one cold) underneath your sink that control the water supply. Try tightening them until the water flow is slow enough that it wont blow the filter off. - Try epoxy or a similar plastic bonding agent. I used epoxy to bond the adapter to the filter mount. You can then screw it on by holding the rotating ring in place. This is an irreversible and permanent solution, but it will make it so that there is only one point that will leak. - Another poster suggested you can contact Brita to get a metal replacement adapter. That may be a good solution. However, keep in mind that you will still have to screw the metal adapter into a short length of plastic threading. That may simply shift the weakest point to a different part of the mount. Attachments don't work!! We just returned the third one of these filters. The filter itself may be good or not, we dont really know, because we couldnt use it at all. The attachments that come with the kit, to secure it to the faucet are defective, and pop out as soon as the water pressure gets up. We initially thought that we got a defective one, but after three attempts, well... Dont they have a quality control before they let those units out of production?? Bottomline, if you have a faucet that will require you to use the attachments, dont even bother!. Doesn't last I agree with most of the reviews already written for this. The bottom line is that if youve had this for a short period of time it is great. Water tastes great, everything is fine but after a year coincidentally about the same time the warranty is up the plastic threads holding it to the faucet start to weaken and water leaks until eventually one day youre washing the dishes with very hot water and it springs a major leak and sprays scalding hot water on you. Given the price, even if you bought a new one of these every year or so (my most recent one lasted almost a year and a half) its still cheaper and better for the environment than bottled water. Im about ready to switch brands and try something different. So far, so good... Well, after reading the conflicting reviews, I was hesitant, but figured for under $30 I cant go wrong. Installation was a breeze and took about 5 minutes max. Read the brief manual first!!!! Everything went together perfectly and it works great! Water tastes like, well, clean water. Great filter system! I have had this filter system a year and am very pleased. It was easy to install, it just screwed on the tap. The black/chrome looks sharp with my stainless steel faucet. The LED light turns red so you know when to change the filter. The taste of my water is SIGNIFICANTLY improved! Its a great product for a great price. weakest link This product has great features, and for the first day that I used it I was happy with it, but the second day I flipped the water on and the sudden increase in pressure blew it completely off. Now I cant get it back on. If you have very low water pressure it might work for you, but dont plan on taking it on and off and try not to bump it. It doesnt matter how good a product is when one aspect makes the entire thing unusable! Filter works, attachments don't... We have gone through 3 of these in 2 years. The actual water filter works great but the way it attaches to your sink will eventually fail and end up spraying you or completely falling off. The attachment parts are plastic and if the threads dont get stripped while you put it on the first time, they will eventually wear down and then there is nothing you can do except shell out more bucks for a new one - mainly just for the little plastic threaded connector. Also, the indicator light is not 100% reliable. I recall it flashing red for weeks even though we had just put a brand new filter in the holder. Cheap is what cheap does. This is a cheaply made piece of dung. It looks chrome and nice, but its plastic. The treads that connect it to the facet are so soft and cheap, it only takes a couple times coming off (and it will repeatedly) before the assembly is rendered completely useless. DO NOT BUY. Only OK There are a couple of things to be aware of before you buy this. The indicator lights are powered by a non-replaceable battery. Britta says it has a 5 year life but if it fails sooner it cant be replaced. After that, no indicator for filter replacement. The mounting fittings that come with the filter are cheap plastic and I couldnt mount mine without it blowing off if the water was turned up too high. Call Britta and they will send (free) metal fittings but it takes a couple of weeks. Britta automated phone assistance is horrific to navigate. DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE I see a lot of previous reviews from other people who got sucked into this product. Its the biggest waste of $30 I have ever spent. It leaks, sprays water all over my kitchen, and if I, heaven forbid, turn the water on past low, it will just fall off. I know the initial assumption is "operator error", but I assure you, as an engineer who works for a consumer products company, I have installed the thing correctly. I have the most standard faucet you could find, and it leaks everywhere. When I contacted Brita about the poor quality of their product, they ignored me and never responded. And you better hope you never have to move. I am moving right now, and the little plastic adapter literally disintegrated in the faucet head and is stuck there. When I tried to remove it, the plastic just kept snapping off until now it is embedded into the faucet, which will probably now need to be replaced because of it. DO NOT BUY BRITA and DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS PRODUCT! Ok, I guess Its easy to adapt to the tap. Makes you feel safer but Im unable to tell if the water tastes any better. Still can't use this filter yet I bought this filter on June 3, 2008. Todays date is 7/24/08 and I still have not received the attachment piece I need to use this product. I was very excited to purchase this item as I figured we would save quite a bit of money not buying bottled water. Imagine my disappointment when I was unable to attach siad filter because the threads on my faucet were on the wrong side. The insert in the package states I should call their 1-800-number. I did and was prompted to leave a message and that I would receive my piece in 4-6 weeks. Are you kidding me? So today I called the 1-800 number on the box. After relaying my information I was told they do not check the messages and "they are behind". So I asked how often they checked and I wa stold, "I dont know". Her name was Abby. Really helpful gal. So perhaps I will receive the piece in a few days I was told. Awesome. So if I ever get to ise this filter, I will review it. The customer service stinks. Don't waste your money! Fit faucet fine - problem was, it restricted the flow so much that we developed pinhole leaks in the arm of the faucet. Now we will have to 1) buy a new stainless steel faucet to replace the one we had which was only a few years old (Cost $289) 2) Have the plumber come out and install it (Cost Approx $125) And to top it all - if someone accidentally turned the faucet on all the way the Brita filter FLEW off the end of the faucet like a projectile! So, its now in the trash along with our 3 year old Delta Faucet. Didnt save us anything - but it sure COST us a lot! Dont waste your money on this piece of garbage! Id rate this one MINUS 10 stars if I could! Brita vs Pur I previously owned a pur faucet filter. It was a mess always leaking and only 2 positions filtered and straight stream. Bought the brita to replace it and was amazed at the difference. The filters are way easier to change and I love having 3 position selector choices of filtered, stream or spray. Best of all no leaky mess like the pur had. Practically Excellent This product is super easy to install, if offers two spray modes for unfiltered water and the taste of the filtered water is surprisingly good. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a hassle free product with great performance. Brita on-tap filter system I have two, cant imagine drinking water without it. But how the heck does one clean the attachment system? Mine gets covered with mold and grime and I have to soak it in bleach and scrub it whenever I change the filter. Is it dishwasher safe? What do others do? IT LEAKS - BIG GAMBLE TRYING TO FIX IT Even if you follow all the instructions, it will leak and you have to aim your container so that you get the purified water and not the tap. If you cant accept that like me, then you might try and fix it like I did. Thats when the fun begins. Several times in my attempts to stop the leaking by tightening it the device popped off and water splashed in my face. Its doubly frustrating when you sit around and think about how easy it is for these dicks to make this product so that it will fit snugly on the faucet and not leak. This contraption costs about 30 dollars which isnt that cheap in my quarters. So I got it back to where it was to begin with but while I was trying to fix it I noticed how easy the whole thing comes off. So now I have to worry everytime that I use it that its gonna pop off and give me a scare. Doesn't fit. Slow service. I recently purchased on of these filters. It didnt fit my faucet (a seemingly fairly standard faucet). Brita only provides two adapters in the box, which is fine if they want to save parts. They give a phone number in their instructions that buyers are supposed to call if neither of the adapters work. I called, and the machine I "spoke" to said they will send new parts in (a whole slew of adapters I assume) in 1-3 weeks! I dont understand why this is so slow. Hopefully it will work when they come. Ill keep spending lots of money on water until then. stay away!!! one of the worst products i have ever bought! the ring(made out of plastic!!!) that mounts on the faucet was worn out and broke(!) before i could even get it on the faucet... stay away from this product, its a complete waste of money. now i am stuck with a broken filter and a bunch of replacement filters i bought with it... Brita Filtration System The Brita on tap filtration system does an acceptable job, except greatly reduces the flow of water. Next time would do more research in chosing a filtration system. Talk about leaks!! While the installation was a breeze, I hadnt had this thing but a few days before it started spraying all over the place! Ive taken it off and put it back on a couple times but the problem remains. I guess Ill have to invest in something more expensive in order to get quality. Nice filter, but difficult to fit. The change in taste of water, from ordinary tap water, is very noticeable. We were amazed and happy how much better it tasted! But it is very flimsy. I accidentally knocked against it once while washing dishes, it fell out, and I havent been able to refit it. NOT recommmended for small sinks. Not a fit This didnt fit on my faucet. I called customer service and they sent me some additional parts and it STILL didnt fit. Water finally tastes good!! My water is good to drink now. I love it and is totally worth the buy. It was easy to install and I havent had to replace the filter yet. I also like how it has two different spouts on regular water. Not for Your Old House Love this item, but had to try a lot of different adapters in order to fit to my sink. Not recommended for any older sink models. Pretty good for the price and great and safe water taste I received this around 6/24/07 and I had to buy pliers to unscrew the thing from my fauce. The installation took me 5 minute because of that. The green light flashed as soon as I turned on the water. The water tasted excellent, no more like tap water. Used this for 2 weeks and still works 10/10. The speed that the filtered water comes out is pretty fast, but not as fast as normal water. I will continue to use it. Slow and Steady OK, so the water comes out at its own nice easy pace now... sloooooow.... at least its nice and clean! I had lots of trouble with my New York City tap water before I got this little gadget, and now I feel a million times better when drinking what is significantly cleaner water from my faucet. It is the best bit of change Ive spent in a long time! Brita on-tap black/chrome water filter It works as promised, Im very happy with the functionality (clean water, fast, easy, little green light indicator, etc). I only gave it 4 stars because its a little plastic-ey looking. Id have happilly paid a little more for one that wasnt quite so "Im plastic pretending to be chrome.", or if it has to be plastic, why make it chrome colored? Its not fooling anyone. Why not make it translucent plastic, tinted in a bright color, so I could see the stuff inside? Pricey but a good filter. I recently moved to Pearland, a Houston suburb. The water straight off the faucet is bearable but has a very noticeable after-taste. Since I am too lazy to use the pitcher filters, bought this tap mounted filter and after two months of continuous use it has worked just as promised thus far. I can do a blind taste test anytime between the plain tap water and Brita filtered water and easily see the difference. Outside of the fact that the light indicator hasnt been very reliable (it was off for a few uses and then came back on) and that the replacements filters are pricey compared to the pitcher filters, its a good buy overall. i'm happy with it bought the unit in Houston, where it worked nicely, and then moved to Indiana. Was so disappointed when it didnt fit in my new place. but I reread the booklet which said to call them if the adaptors did not fit. so I did and was sent a package within 5 days. yes it now fits perfectly! sounds like i should check the filter more than i thought but i dont have a problem with that. also maybe some of you should be more patient. i like the way it took the iodine and chlorine taste away (coffee) overall im very pleased, as it seems to be working great!! Worst filter I am totally dissatisfy with this product and this is damn waste of money. Brita base was working for just 2 week initially and now I able to get a water from filter but there is no light glowing either green or red. The base was showing red flash light on end of first week for the first new filter which suppose to come upto atleast 2 months. I recommed you all... DONT BUY IT. second one i find it a bit annoying that it ends up breaking after 2 years - meaning slipping off the tap and squirting water everywhere - but overall its a great product. Brita filter This is the second filter Brita that I bought (the first one slips off the tap after more than 2 years of usage). Im happy with Brita system. Im planning to use it in the future as well. So Far So Good I was cautious after reading the disgruntled reviewers state the Brita On Taps alleged weaknesses but figured it was so easy to put on and take off that worst case scenario Id just return it. The first thing I learned is that my sink faucet has threads on the inside. This means I had to use the Britas included adapter. The adapter fit easily but without the washer. I could never get it on with the washer attached. This would be a problem if I had leaks or erratic water flow but so far that has not been a problem. After installing the base system to the faucet three minutes later, I was done. Now it was time for the taste test. Very good. The water didnt have the normal bad aftertaste from normal tap water and Im now poised to cancel my water delivery, which is costing me about 650 dollars a year and which for all I know has more impurities than the company is willing to divulge. Compared to my Brita system--30 dollars for the unit and then 60 dollars a year in filters (every 3 months you have to buy a 15 dollar filter), Id say Im ahead more than 500 dollars a year. Sounds like a good deal to me. Update: I discovered I couldnt put in the supplied washer in with the adapter because the old washer was "hiding" in the faucet. Once I took out the old washer, I was able to put on the adapter as prescribed in Britas instructions. I tightened firmly by hand and there are no leaks or spattering problems. For the money, a very good unit indeed. OK for NYC water NYC water clogs faucet filters fast. Ive tried a few systems and so far this one has lasted the longest. Itll go for a month+ before it needs replacement. Not the full four months Brita claims but the other brands I tried lasted less than two weeks. Ive had the system for 6 months. Do not take this off after it is installed! The unit was stripped after taking it off the faucet once! It is a waste of mony! Do not take this off after it is installed! The unit was stripped after taking it off the faucet once! It is a waste of mony! "Red Stuff" WARNING! Believe it or not there was red stuff inside!!!!! Today I unscrew my "Brita Ultra Faucet Filter System". Well, I was shocked to discover that inside the faucet mount and on both water mouths there was red stuff growing. I called Brita and was told that it is not the product, SINCE IT IS NOT EVEN DESIGNED TO FILTER OUT BACTERIA, it must be the water. Long story short: Brita still pushes it product on people who doesnt know better. This product is poorly designed and drains bad, therefore bacteria or other nasty things could multiply in it. Since it doesnt filter out bacteria the scenario is not a pleasant one. IF you buy this system it means that you dont know a lot about water filters and what you want to filter out. Neither did I, you have to be a chemist to understand the lingo. Stay away since this product may be harmfull to your health by its poor quality. excellent filtration system by: Anonymous On: 2004-06-15 Easy to use, excellent filtration system. I had some trouble originally installing it because I didnt know that plumbing threads are the reverse of screws. Once I got it on correctly, it has worked fine for over one year. The filters pop on and off easily, last a long time, and a red light tells you when its time to change. Sometimes, the water pressure gets too low and I change to a new filter even though it is still showing a green light. The replacement filters are a little difficult to find. only lasted three weeks. i was very disappointed with this item, was great for the three weeks that it lasted. after that it shot off the faucet and can not be put back on. it was installed correctly but now it can not be reinstalled on the faucet. everytime we try to reattach it, it shoot off at us. |
