 Ionic Pro 90IP1RCMB1 Compact Air Purifier with Bonus Car Ionizer By: Ionic Pro Average Rating: 3.5 Total Reviews: 13 More Information Nice product, BUT buy a 3m filtrete air purifier instead!  On: 2010-02-19First of all, this is a nice product, but mine stopped working about 6 months of owning one, very disapointed I like the fact that there is no filter to replace, all you need to do is clean the blades everytime it gets dirty, but I am still not 100% sure if it is really filtering or just collect some of the dust that blows through and get stuck onto the blades, also I do not like the fact that it releases ozone.. O3, instead of O2 which is oxygen. It shouldnt be harmful but its a bit unsettling to know. I give this thing 2 stars because it failed on me after 6 months, i took care of it and cleaned it often, maybe I got a lemon because it seems like no one else had that problem. I recommend the 3M products instead. Ionic pro is nice and slick, but its so nice that its too good to be true, the 3M air purifier is just straight forward and you know its doing a better job filtering than the Ionic pro. It would be nice if all the air purifiers had did not have filters to replace so we could all save a lot of money in the long run, but the fact is, you pay for the replacement filters so that you get what you pay for, it will do the job of truly purifiying the air instead of the fancy smancy gimmicky blades that you clean from the ionic pro. To me the ionic pro is a trying to be wanabe imitation alien technology that doesnt really work all the way 100%. The 3M products definitely work 100% all the way and I would definitely spend more money on real performance. If a product does not perform to the best of its capacity, to me it is just a waste of money. Also it is your health, there is no price for your health, being healthy is worth spending the extra bucks, buy the 3M products instead! Ionic pro is cool, and it does work, but not as well as the 3M air purifiers. Maybe in 50 years in the future there will have technology good enough to truly make an air purifier that does not need a filter replacement, until then, you have the ionic pro which is a wanabe imitation "alien technology" that does not truly work to its full potential. Also in the future, the hopefully can make the ionic pro not release ozone (O3), and release oxygen (O2) which is what we humans would rather breathe. I love the way this makes the room smell!  On: 2010-02-01I read a bunch of reviews and finally decided on this model. I have never used an ionizer before and I love it!! I love the way the room smells when it is on- its like fresh mountain air! I also like how I can see all of the dust collected on the blades. It really shows me that it is doing the job it is supposed to- taking dust out of the air. I highly recommend this product regularly to my friends. Buy At Your Own Risk  On: 2010-01-30The Ozone this thing puts out is Harmful for children and states this in the instructions. it doesnt clean the air I returned this item the day i got it and had problems shipping back the other one. If i could give it no stars I would. permanent damage to lungs with high OZONE creating machines On: 2010-01-23just found out that similar products like this can cause permanent lung damage (i.e.asthma) if the ozone levels are high. yes these machines work but at what risk? Seems to work  On: 2010-01-03We love it. We were amazed at how quiet it is. We replaced a very loud air purifier/humidifier. We clean it monthly maybe, and we can tell the difference when we walk in the room - very crisp, clean air. We thought it would pick up more dust type of material but its really not - maybe its not supposed to replace dusting :) I believe we would invest in a larger one if this one holds true for a year or so. Stinks really bad even after 5 days On: 2009-11-07I dont know if I had a bad unit or if Ionic products are supposed to smell that bad but I couldnt take it anymore so I return it. I prefer the dust 1,000x better than the horrible smell that thing was giving out. This is my first Ionic product. Can someone with more Ionic products tell me if that is the way it supposed to to smell??? i doubt it because its hard to take. Did I get a unit with issues? Ionic Pro - Best compact air purifier on the market On: 2009-09-12Ive tried many other air purifiers, and this is the best, most efficient model I have encountered. I am a cigar smoker, and this little beauty cleans a 22x11 room of all cigar smell within 10 minutes. Just let it run for a while before you start throwing odors at it - it needs to get the standard dust and other goodies out of the air first before it will begin staunching your smells. After that, just wipe the blades clean with a tissue once per week to ensure the cleanest air. While its not a HEPA filter, it does a great job controlling curious aromas, even if it wont get that bubonic plague out of your room. For the price, it does exactly what it says and is totally silent while doing it. I only wish my KIDS were like that, too. Best little filter in use. On: 2009-09-10Best Little Filter in use today. I have owned Ionic Pro before and know that the air I now breathe is cleaner and healthier than without it. The competition lies... On: 2009-06-13Firstly, I have been a Ionic Breeze user for more than a decade, and now I am on my fourth generation unit, the first of our first generation ones died after 11 years of continued 24/7/365 use. Kinda had to get a new one. We started with the standard quadra due to moving into an apartment with 2 cats and a litter box. Dust, dander, cat food and our smoking habit led to the need to clean the air, and one unit kept a 1,200 apartment smelling, well it kept it from smelling. When we moved into a house, added 2 more cats and 2 more litter boxes we also added another quadra, with the same result- no smell except when we got lazy and failed to clean the unit (it shuts off when too dirty), and then we became aware just how effective these things are. INCREDIBLY EFFECTIVE!! When the other guys make claims that these do not move any air theough them, I can show that there is indeed an air flow created by the ionization occuring when a charge passes... nevermind- just put your hand in front of one and feel the actual breeze coming out of it. No moving parts mean there is very little wear and tear, and even less to wear out- like I said, my first one died after 11 years of constant use. Try that with a unit that has a fan assembly, an additional air filter for continued expense and maintenance, and the inherent noise that accompanies the whole deal... um no thanks. Bottom line- these things work, and work well for a long, long time. And yeah, they make great gifts for people with alergies, family members who you can never figure out what to get, and in-laws. Clean Air - Dirty Case On: 2009-04-24Excellent product for removing or collecting dust and particulate matter! I have bought and used these cleaners for years both for my parents and girlfriend, both groups are pet owners and the system generally works as advertised. They do require a fan in the area to circulate the air or it only gathers and cleans the area around the unit. The down side to the unit is that when pulling dust or other matter onto the collection plates that the fins and air holes on the exterior get bound up with matterial and are difficult to clean even with compressed air. There is really no good way to clean the inside as well. It also requires more than one unit in most rooms larger than a small bed room to do a really good job, but they are quiet and do wonderfully otherwise especially with something in the area to circulate the air. Ionic Breeze: Success Story On: 2009-03-01[...] This product does not claim to be miraculous or to cure sinusitis. It does remove particles from the air which irritate sensitive sinus areas. This was a gift for my son-in-law who missed eight valuable days from his work last year. Since using this Air Purifier, he has had no serious symptoms: no stuffiness, no runny nose or eyes, and no congestion. THANKS! works great! On: 2008-01-23got this for my bedroom-- does a GREAT job freshening up the place. ive noticed that the room doesnt get as dusty anymore. dont listen to consumer reports. this thing really works! and yes-- if you dont clean it regularly, it WILL pop and buzz.... just keep it clean and you wont have that problem. I never was able to sleep up there because of my allergies. But now I can because of the purifier. And I can smells the ozone, but mild, the room is not completly closed up. I want to get the bigger purifier for the other larger room. I think it said when it makes noises that is needs to be cleaned. You clean it once a week. Ionic Pro 90IP1RCMB1 Compact Air Purifier On: 2006-10-10Doesnt seem to do much of anything. Oh it pops and fizzes a little but after a week in a relatively dusty room there was almost nothing on the collection grids. And there isnt even a hint of ozone coming from it. I have an Oreck air cleaner in a bedroom and a Honeywell in another and they both suck those rooms clean. Save your money on this one and save for something that really works. |
