Leaky spigot despite perfect proper installation

We just received ours today (March 25th, 2010) and it was very easy to put together, looks great, and we would be very happy with it BUT...

The spigot leaks ever-so-slightly. This should normally only happen if you do not install the spigot correctly, but rest assured I definitely installed ours correctly. The diagram was quite simple, but even without it almost anyone would find it obvious how to properly install the washers (making sure there is one on either side of the crock outlet, and making sure the curved edges of the washers are up against the crock wall, and of course making sure the locking nut is well-tightened).

Were really bummed out, because this WOULD have been PERFECT if it werent for the leaky spigot. I did notice in a few other reviews for the crock component of this product a few people mentioning the leaky spigot issue, but just like a seller I assumed that they must have installed theirs incorrectly. I was wrong - it is possible to have leakage issues even if you install the spigot exactly as you are supposed to.

Its such a disappointment to have to give this 2 stars. If it werent for the spigot leaking even when properly installed, I would have given this at least 4 stars. Im going to hate returning this and ending up with one of those ugly plastic dispensers :(

Whenever I purchase something, I always check out the reviews. Thats my homebase of reference is other peoples thoughts. When I saw the negatives about the plastic electrical water dispensers, I was floored because that was what I was going to purchase.
When I saw all the rave reviews about this water dispenser, it all made sense. I received it in record time; my son put it together and since I didnt hear him swearing, it must have been easy.

To say I love it is an understatement. I purchased two five-gallon jugs and with the three-gallon jug that comes with the set, I am set. Love it, love it, love it! Fabulously functional and beautiful.

Couldnt be more pleased. And it doesnt drip! Awsome.

Wonderful

We had an electric water cooler for a number of years; however, it would leak from time to time and make a big mess; this water dispenser is not only attractive, but totally efficient and fits right in with our decor. We are very pleased with our purchase.

We have really bad water where we live and have been extremely pleased with our water dispenser. We shopped around and could not believe the price that we got this for. Very fast shipping. Couldnt be happier!

Mediocre at best. Leaks. Doesn't support "no-spill" systems. Missing Instructions. Cheap Screws.

I just set it up. Here are my thoughts.

Pros - as other reviews stated, the porcelain is nice. The water cooler looks nicer than the average water cooler.

Cons - The porcelain was dirty when it arrived. It arrived in two boxes, and neither one contained setup instructions. The setup wasnt difficult, but it would have been nice to at least see a picture. One of the screws snapped in half, which made me wish I would have used my own rather than the ones that came with it. I signed up with a water delivery company, and unfortunately, they left the "no spill" bottles at my front door. The caps of these bottles are not intended to be removed, and this water cooler doesnt support that type of cap. The cap ended up working out well though. I jammed a straw up the middle and that allows enough air in for the cap to work. The no-spill caps did help prevent the spilling when I put the bottle on it, even with a straw stuck in the middle. However, once the thing filled up with water, the spigot started leaking all over the floor. The mess motivated me to go to my computer to write this review. I now have to drain the thing to try to tighten that plastic nut some more that fastens the spigot.

There was a sticker that said it was "lead free." Im not sure if I found that statement comforting or disturbing. Before reading that, I guess I had just assumed that a water cooler would be lead free. The porcelain is made in China. The stand is made in Vietnam.

Leaks

Although the water dispenser is easy to set up and looks nice it leaks. The main purpose of the dispenser is to hold water and if it leaks it is pretty much of a waste. I wouldnt buy it.

Product is great, but the stand....

The directions are not very clear how to assemble the stand. The all important missing line is "Tap the bottom of Part B to remove bottom wooden bar, then insert Part A, replace the bar on part B". The bar that I am referring to is put together with wooden pegs. After a half hour, we started tapping on the parts, and the bar finally came loose. It reminded me of a Chinese puzzle until then. ;-).

The product is excellent and the company is A1.

This is a good water dispenser. It was easy to assemble and it is sturdy. I think it looks nicer than the plastic/aluminum units Ive rented from the bottled water companies. Well-worth the money.

Great Water Dispenser for the price!

I was pleasantly surprised when I received this item: It has a sleek wooden stand and also a nice looking porcelain dispenser. It is so much sturdier than the previous plastic water dispenser I owned! I am glad I switched!
