![]() Enviracaire EFY-045 Digital Tower Fan with Ionizer By: Honeywell Average Rating: 3.0 Total Reviews: 35 More Information saved my sanity We have terrible old and noisy air conditioners that we cant afford to replace. Surprisingly, this affordable and narrow machine really really works. If youre in trouble heat-wise like I was, get this fan. Excellent Buy I bought this fan over three years ago and it has been flawless. It is very easy to clean the filter on the back (although I dont as often as I should) and it is very quiet. I use it in my sons bedroom to circulate fresh air and ever since we put it there his coughing at night went down dramatically. If it ever breaks, I will buy it again. 5/2007-6/2008 Died after 1 year 1month. BEWARE that it only work for few months, since i only used it on summer. Life :5/2007-6/2008, piece of junk now, 1 yr warranty expired. when it is working, it is pretty nice. Piece Of Junk I bought this fan last summer for my garage & only used it a few times before it quit working. Total piece of junk & absolutely not worth wasting your money on. Better fans out there... even better versions from same company I had bought a total of four of them earlier this summer, some as gifts for family and one for myself. I had (attempt) to put them all together. Here are my comments. Pros: -"Price wasnt bad when it was on sale" Amazon had a decent discount when products were purchased. -"Good breeze" Assuming the fan properly works, the size of the fan, the hight that it covers, and the three different levels make for a good and noticeable breeze. Cons: -"Screwless base more difficult to attach" A fan with screws would have been less of a hassle to put together and more stable when standing. In the screwless, clip-together versions of these fans, twisting the pieces so that they locked proved to be awkward at times. There are three main sections, the actual fan, the middle stand piece, and the flat disc-like base. What doesnt make sense is that one piece must be turned clockwise to lock and the other piece must be turned counter-clockwise. What happens is, after putting the stand on, when you twist on the base, you end up undoing your work on the stand. -"Parts didnt fit correctly/were misshapen" In at least one of the fans I purchased, the base would not attach at all to the fan, so I had to leave out the middle section. -"Clicking noises during rotation" 3 out of the 4 fans that were purchased produced an irritating clicking noise when it would turn from left to right on the base. -"Shipping problem: One fan was shipped missing a piece" Not much to explain here. -"One fan died" About a month in, one of the fans completely quit; neither the digital screen would register nor the actual fan would come on. -"Remote Control Lights do not completely work" Not a big issue, but the remote controls have two little lights that are suppose to come on then you push a button on the control. On all four remotes, only one light would come on. As said before, not a big issue, especially as just one light is bright enough to hold its own, but still worth noting. Overall Comments: All in all, I would not recommend this fan to anyone and honestly I cannot recommend the company that produces these. If you need to get a fan from this company, at least pick a different product other than this particular one from their list. Low is a bit weak, but great fan nonetheless This fan was a great deal at $20 from Amazons Friday sale- its powerful on high but a bit weak when on low, which is probably how its virtually silent. I really like the temperature display and the remote- if it goes on sale again, Im getting another one. BROKEN! Worked fine until after three weeks. It broke-just shorted out and wouldnt come back on. I cant find the "apparent" 5-year warranty. BROKEN! Worked fine until after three weeks. It broke-just shorted out and wouldnt come back on. I cant find the "apparent" 5-year warranty. Love it I dont have this exact model but I got one thats virtually identical at Home Depot - at least in appearance and function. The only thing thats different (?) is the model number (HY-047B) but who knows - youd think something would have to be different if it had a different model number...? I looked (at Home Depot) for a white one but all they have is black. Target also had a Honeywell tower fan (in white) with all the same functions (remote, breeze feature, ionizer, etc.) as the one at Home Depot (and it was cheaper) but interestingly enough its slightly different in appearance (its kind of cheesy looking with a white face and tan body). The barcode for the one at Target had "TAR" in it as though Honeywell makes different versions for different suppliers so maybe some arent built as well for some suppliers as for others...? Anyway, the fan shown here looks identical to the one I got at Home Depot. I really like this fan! The remote is definitely awkward to use but its still a cool feature to have (plus theres a place on the fan made to house the remote when its not in use). The fan does a good job of circulating air, its quiet, it has a timer which is a nice feature, its unobtrusive (which I love), and I think its pretty cool looking (especially for a fan). I used my fan almost non-stop for a week with no problem whatsoever and Im impressed with it enough to get another one. The only thing is that Id rather have a white one (blends in better with my decor - the black one really stands out!). Im hoping the one here is just as good as the (different model number) one I got at Home Depot (darn I wish they just sold the white one there!). I paid $49 (plus tax) at Home Depot. Quirky at start, but great fan once accustomed As others have mentioned, there are a couple of quirky features with this fan. One, the remote is not rectangular as most remotes are. The remote is far from being ergonomic. Furthermore, the remote is mising the "MODE" function which sets the "Temperature" versus "Clock/Timed" mode. Without the "Mode" button on the remote, I still have to go up to the fan to change settings -- defeating the purpose of a remote. Second, there are issues with the oscillation -- part of which may be user error. I initially was going to return the fan since the fan stopped oscillating after only 2 hours of use. A call to customer service yielded no solution except a recommendation to return to vendor(Amazon) or to manufacturer for service. However, re-reading some of the reviews, I decided to rebuld the base -- just in case I missed something in the 3-step process . I found that I had pulled the cord too tightly through the base; the cord was too taut and affecting the oscillation. I loosened the cord and gave it a bit of slack within the base, and I have had no oscillation problems since then except for an occasional squeak as the fan turns. Otherwise the fan is great. I can set a run time of anywhere from 1 to 12 hours. The fan is powerful enough to feel the breeze 8 feet away at the lowest (quietest) speed setting. I cannot speak to the ionization features since my main deciding factor for buying this particular unit was its price of $20 on a recent Friday sale. It works fine This fan is working properly, I have not had any problems with any of its functions. If properly assembled, it should not break. I have it on all the time while I am at home, and it is still working! Very Surprising Value I paid $19.98 for this on a Friday sale and was very impressed with what I received. Excellent product even at $50, my 2 cents. JUNK!!!! JUNK!!!! This fan never worked from the time i took it out of the box will not osculate just clicks.JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK. JUNK!!!! I purchased one of these to help cool my apartment. It seemed to work well for the first few days, so I got a second one to put in my bedroom. Not half an hour after getting the ship notice, the first fan got very, very jerky when oscillating. By the end of the day it cut out entirely; wouldnt turn on, nothing. I unplugged it and let it sit. A day later I tried it again; it turned on, but shut off within two minutes and hasnt worked since. I hoped it was just a dud and set up the second one about two hours ago. It runs, but the oscillation is already completely nonfunctional. I really cant tell if the ionizer works or not; I dont notice any particular freshening of the air or reduction in allergens, just the little green LED on the unit being on. This fan is a total waste of money. broke after only a few hours JUNK! This product stopped working after the first few hours. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. I wanted to exchange it for a new one but I was told that they are no longer available and I can only get a refund. Thank you amazon for your excellent return policy, but I wanted a replacement. The $19.99 price was so good. I guess you get what you pay for. DO NOT BUY This product stopped working after few weeks. I bought this against many reviews thinking that the reviews are biased. I DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING THIS PRODUCT. tower fan very good with Ionizer. Pet odors seem to disappear. the controls are cumbersome to use. Good for the price. Pass on this The Enviracaire Digital Tower Fan/Ionizer, even at this low price, really isnt worth buying. The fan is noisy and easy to tip over. The ionizer is messy and ineffective. These just dont work and waste electricity. DO NOT BUY This product stopped working after few weeks. I bought this against many reviews thinking that the reviews are biased. The price is very reasonable for what I get. Thank you. Great Tower Fan I have purchased several tower fans in the last two years and this is by far my favorite. The remote has a clever flashlight and the temperature sensor is a handy idea. It was much easier to assemble than others I have purchased since it requires no tools and the slots are so very clearly marked. The others towers fans in my experience break off at the base eventually and I hope that this one will not as its base seems much better designed. The ionizer feature seems appealing but there is no way to know if its actually working. However, I do note that the air coming out of this fan does seem fresher somehow. All in all, I am very satisfied and am in fact planning on ordering another one. Not as good as an old fashioned table fan I had no mechanical glitches like others have said. But it does not chill the room like others said..I have an old fashioned table fan. I would rate this fans performance to be almost the same as that fan..Idont believe that it can reduce the temperature of the room by even 4 degree in a hot summer when the temperature is as high as 90+ Very disappointed..running my A.C and my table fan now..this just looks good and stylish..but i doubt the performance.. Does anyone knows how to clean this fan? Theres a 1000 screws on the the whole thing and havent found a way to clean it. Does anyone knows how to clean this fan? The control is kinda stupid. If you are on high speed, you need to press the power button 3 more times to turn the fan off which is stupid. Besides, Amazon shipped me a defective fan the first time. I give it a 3 instead of a 4. Good but makes scratchy sound. This is a nice product. I got all the features (with ionization...have no clue what that means) for a pretty decent price. The remote is awesome..so convinient. But after a few days it started making scratchy noises while rotating. havent really looked at the problem yet. My cousin got the same product but he has no such complaints. probably a bad piece. Good but makes scratchy sound. This is a nice product. Good, Versatile Fan Assembly was a little harder than it should have been, because the base was reluctant to lock to the tower, but once assembled (and then run a few hours to get rid of that "new plastic" smell) it worked fine. The oscillate mechanism is a bit clunky, and Id bet on that being the weak component, but since I dont use it, it isnt an issue for me. The "breeze" mode and timer are very useful, and the remote, while awkward to hold in one hand, is very handy for operating the fan from bed. It even has a built-in (weak) flashlight. The ionizer isnt very strong, but it does seem to freshen the air at least slightly. A good fan for areas where you need quiet operation more than a strong airflow. Mediocre performance - good price For the money, this is a good fan; but dont expect to be wowed by the features or performance. Here are the observations I have made so far: * The oscillation on this fan only works 50% of the time. * Fan can be very quiet with good airflow. * Thermostat is very innacurate - probably 5 degrees off. * The breeze mode is great at night - it is very quiet and quite pleasant when sleeping. * The remote control is kind of a gimmick - it is not practical. Overall I am satisfied with the purchase and the product - but it was purely based on pricepoint... if it had been even $10 more expensive I would have been unhappy. In this case I got what I paid for. Greay buy Pretty good fan for $30. Love the remote, I no longer have to get out of bed at night when I get too cold or hot. Awesome FAN Got this fan due to the price amazon had it at $27.99. I do agree with some of the other reviews regarding the remote, it is a bit funky. It looks like it would be a pain to clean the inside. Awesome FAN Got this fan due to the price amazon had it at $27.99. I do agree with some of the other reviews regarding the remote, it is a bit funky. It looks like it would be a pain to clean the inside. awesome concept, crappy quality. The idea of this fan was great, when i first saw it offered for sale. I read a couple of online reviews, none of which were horrible, and i decided to bite the bullet and buy one. Worst purchase i have ever spent $30 bucks on. Since day one when i took it out of the box and assembled it, the oscillating feature didnt work. It starts to turn, about 1/2 way, and then stops, and starts clicking, until you go over to the fan and push on it,.. then it might or might not start turning again. I tried taking the pedestal extender off, because the fan itself, and the instructions for putting it together, state that it is more stable without the pedestal extension. Wrong. It is just as unstable without it. Not only does it not turn when its supposed to be oscillating, but it will shake and wobble as if it is going to fall over. Im afraid to leave this thing on for fear that it might start a fire or something. I have tried taking it apart numerous times, and i have only owned it for under a week. Im not sure what to do about it, as the box was disposed of, and it seems a huge pain to ship it out anywhere. I thought that Honeywell was a great name as far as quality goes, and that i would be perfectly satisfied with this purchase, but im definately not. Stick to the old fashioned stand up oscillating fans. They have never given me a problem, so much for investing in new technology. Not worth it I was disappointed with this fan. I have a similar type fan (Lasko) which I like very much, but this one does not seem to be as sturdy. I really dont like the remote. I think a remote should fit comfortably in the hand and operate easily with one hand. This one is oddly shaped and difficult to hold in one hand and operate while pointed at the fan. I also thought a flashlight on the remote would be good, but the light only stays on while holding the button down and with this remote, it is very awkward. The fan works, but I definitely would not buy another one. $27.99 for everything I need by: osmanthus11888 On: 2007-05-09 I have an old air conditioner that cools my tiny room fine but I have a feeling it consumes an obscene amount of electricity so I am very happy with this ionizer fan with its small footprint. I have often felt too hot in my room next to the kitchen in the winter with the heat turned off so I get to use this fan yearround instead of sweating in my room too embarassed to turn on the airconditioner in the winter. This tower fan is huge and has more options than I expected from something that cost $27.99. It also creates a wall of sound that insulates noises from outside the room including televisions. Excellent! Very quiet, excellent circulation and it looks good. I have another tower fan that I paid twice the price of this one, this is just as quiet and has the same no. of speeds and special features. The other had a one year waranty, this one has five. Has digital read-out on the unit with a remote that does it all. Very impressive! Update below....I reviewed Enviracaire customer service----It too is excellent!-----and, no I do not work for the company. Absolutely amazing.. Love it.. I had order this fan on April 27 and got it within 4 days.. The fan is nice.. quiet, nice looking and works well too.. overall, happy with it.. I am buying second one now... :-) Excellent! Unlike the other reviewer I bought 3 fans last summer, and continue to use them through the heat wave of summer 06. Love them - and in the process of ordering one for daughter leaving for college - will not part with any of mine. Perfect for bedrooms, take up little room and are quiet with good air flow. Have looked at several others for daughter and came back to this one- seems much higher quality, solid and very functional- howerver - does not send air high - its good for where you sit or sleep and for air freshening! ML Stopped working after 3 weeks When I got this fan I loved it. Its so quiet and provides a great amount of air. And it has a thermostat and a timer mode. And a remote control. Then after using it for only 3 week it suddenly just refused to turn back on. We tried moving it to another outlet just to be sure, but no luck. The fan had just died. Of course, Im very disappointed. And would surely not recommend this or buy another of this brand. Stopped working after 3 weeks When I got this fan I loved it.
