![]() Brita Disposable Faucet Filtration System By: Brita Average Rating: 4.0 Total Reviews: 57 More Information Good Value Great product! Doesnt quite last a whole year for us, but thats because were waterholics (family of 2). It tastes great and its very cheap for what it is. Great value! brita disposible water filter the Brita Disposible Water filter is wonderful. I had been using the regular filters for years. When I saw it in the store, It said good for a year. I started adding up the filter replacements and grabbed it. It actually lasted about 13 months. It saves money, 1 unit per year(40.00) vice four filters per year(20-25 each)and has a filter light that lets you know it needs to be replaced. The whole unit is tossed. Im having a hard time finding it in stores anymore, so Im glad I found it on Amazon. Works great - can break easily My parents got this as a gift and have used it for 4 months and loved it... water tastes great, easy installation and use. Plastic fitting has now broken where it screws onto tap and item is unusable. brita 1 year disposable water filtration system is the best ! This is our second one and it lasted over a year. We save so much money not having to buy bottled water. We use this with our Thermos water bottle for everywhere. We also bought my daughter and her husband one this year and they love it. Excellent product i bought this last year, and it has worked perfectly for a year and 2 months, so longer than a years worth, and I drink Alot of water. I cant say anything bad about this product 5* from me!! Disappointed I bought three of these filters because I reasoned that it was less wasteful to thrown out one complete filter system a year than to throw out three to five regular filters that the other systems used. I hooked up the first one and it worked okay except that as others have said the flow is greatly decreased and it takes a while to fill a glass. This I could live with thinking I was being less wasteful. Unfortunately, the system gave out after only three months. According to the instructions this system is supposed to handle 300 gallons of water. My wife and I live alone and we certainly did not use the 300 gallons of filtered water in three months. In fact, we probably use less than a half gallon a day. That means the filter should have lasted six hundred days. Not even close. Great Seller More than the product being a good product, the seller is better. I had so many problems with Fed-ex that I didnt get the product until weeks later and there was so much drama. But the company was very nice and understanding. Good buy but lasts less than a year. Weve used these for about 2 1/2 years (in fact, we recall an identical filter being offered by another brand before Brita, but I cant remember the brand name). Weve never had problems with installation, although weve had to tighten it up a few times because the water was spraying when we used the filter feature. Also, it has NEVER lasted a whole year, but it has lasted for several months. However, since we usually found it a Target for about $25, it was always a great buy anyway. Unfortunately, I couldnt find it in Target yesterday, which brought be to Amazon, and I am shocked at the difference in price. Ill keep looking. Brita disposable faucet filtration system I have only been using this product for one month, but I like it very much. My town recently added chlorine to our drinking water and I did not like the taste of the water. I called the water department to reassure myself that I would not be drinking tainted water if I removed the chlorine with a water filter. I was assured that the water was perfectly save with a filter and tastes so much better. Works but the company is a jerk and emails you whining if you gave them a so so review. The product works, the water tastes much better than when its not filtered. Its easy to set up had no issues with that. My only issue is the company that sent it out. I gave them a 3 out of 5 and they emailed me one their defensive side. It was very rude and I would recommend buying it from some company that takes criticism well. Supposed to last 12 months, only lasted 2. My girlfriend and I live together. We probably drink about as much water as the average couple, maybe less because we work a lot. Yet somehow the brita filter only lasted 1/6 the advertised length of time. The brita disposable faucet filtration system is advertised as lasting 12 months, sadly it only lasted 2. This is a big dissapointment as I would have stayed with the PUR system (also not perfect) otherwise. If 2 months is sufficient for you, go ahead and buy this. Otherwise, use a filter with replacement cartridges. Good but not for a year We like this much better than the PUR faucet filter. But it does not last for a year. We got about 6 months before the light turned red. But it was OK since we bought them on eBay for a nice discount. It has fine print that says it will filter 300 gallons so we must use a lot of water. But this it is a nice product. It can get in the way depending on your sink and faucet combo. Get this discontinued product before they are all gone Ive used this product for 2 years and am now ordering my third Filter. Each unit lasted a full year for me. Ive tried many similar products and this one is easy to install and the unfiltered output is a normal force. The filtered water does take awhile to fill up a pan but, when I had a RO system its all ready filtered water also had a small sized faucet for output. Im extremely disappointed that this product has been discontinued. The newest Brita is gimmicky and I dont want to pay for the gimmick (it shows you the particles taken out of the water). Great for the Price! This product is quite wonderful actually. I was surprised, as it was rather inexpensive compared to other filtration systems. It took me only about 3 minutes to get it on, and after I let it run, the water tasted so good! I have high clorinated water with an awful smell, and I tasted none of that! It truly was almost as good as spring water... actually it gave a taste similar to purified water without the mineral aftertaste. I didnt find it bulk but my faucet is rather high and it doesnt take up much room. My only gripe is that the water does indeed come out somewhat slowly so it takes a while to fill up a pitcher or water bottle, but totally worth the extra seconds I have to spend doing it. Brita Disposable Faucet Filter Lasts almost a year. Easy to install. Gives peace of mind about purity of water for drinking, cooking and for pets. Looks good. Sandy from Allentown, PA This product is wonderful. The water filtration works for almost a year. I noticed that the product may have been discontinued. That would be a shame. Great Product This filter pays for itself.. I will be buying another one.. As I have this one for over a year.. And to not spend 24 dollars every so many months for a replacement filter is fantastic... This is easy to install & last a long time with out having to shell out money.. Deb from PA 7 months ago... I started using the Brita Disposable Faucet Filtration System on 17 October 2007... and today (16 May 2008) the light just turned red. Thats seven months, which equates to about 210 gallons of filtered water, which BTW, I actually measured. I was hoping this filter would last a year, but cant complain about 7 months since I paid under $25. If they could have maintained that cost, I would have considered buying another... but several weeks ago I was checking on prices and discovered this specific filter had skyrocketed to almost $70... along with rumors that it had been discontinued. I was forced to find a cheaper alternative... which Im not revealing out of fear that products price will also skyrocket. Good luck in your search for safe clean water. another great product discontinued We got this model after trying, and liking, the disposable bathroom model. I liked this filter more than any other faucet mount weve tried, and sadly now it is discontinued! According to Britas website, this is the only faucet-mount they offer(ed) that removes mercury, along with a respectable list of other contaminants. The water tastes good, the unit is easy to use, it has a good flow rate, and what I like best is that unlike other models there is no hard-to-clean permanent housing that gets grungy and disgusting over time. Changing the filter means changing the whole self-contained unit, which is about the size of a replacement filter altogether. This was a very well-designed product that somehow failed. Due to the love-it-or-hate-it reviews I am seeing for this and the lavatory model, I wonder if one bad batch got out there and ruined its reputation. I also wonder if all the people who had installation problems also had trouble with other similar products. In any case, its a shame that this model is no longer manufactured. I suppose that is why the price is so high on Amazon right now. I believe I got mine for less than 25.00. This unit lasted six months with two people using it for drinking water and filling a pet fountain and the coffeemaker, along with some cooking. That made it a good value, for me. Will try to find one to get us through another six months, then maybe invest in an undermount system. useless this did NOT fit on my fairly standard-looking faucet. what a waste! stick with the brita pitchers unless youre sure it will fit. Perfect for patient people. With just a mini-frig and limited counter space, I thought a faucet-attached filter made more sense than a large pitcher. The system comes with all the attachments, washers, and adapters necessary to fit most sinks. Installation is simple. The system works as advertised. For the first two weeks I was thrilled. Then I began to lose patience. The flow rate from the filtered outlet began to drive me crazy--it was just too slow for anything larger than a cup of tea. Filling water pitchers or coffeemaker carafes was torture. If I had an anti-microbial mat or something to keep these pitchers off the surface of my sink, Id be more comfortable leaving a container to fill unattended. But I dont and Im not. If youre not fundamentally impatient like I am, especially in issues of hydration, this product will likely make you very happy. If not, watch out. An excellent purchase This product is excellent to have in my home. I no longer have to deal with water deliveries being either late or no deliveries at all. Plus that, the price I paid for it was an investment in order to have water that no longer tastes and smells awful. Thank you! Fantastic Filter I purchased this filter not knowing if there would be a significant difference in the quality of water but I thought I had nothing to lose. I also wanted to discontinue buying bottled water to help save the environment. I selected this brand based on feedback from others that use the pitcher system. After installing the filter (needed an additional adapter < $1.00) I was amazed at how different the water tasted. Before switching the lever to filter, I tasted the regular tap for comparison. After switching I could tell the difference immediately. For this low investment, I should be able to get a years worth of fresh filtered water. This disposable filter system is less expensive than the pitcher system which requires regular filter changes that tend to be expensive. My dog also loves the new filtered water. Many thumbs up and good-bye plastic bottles. Love it! This item is wonderful! Took a little while to get it to fit the sink perfectly, but it does. So happy to be saving money on water. We used to go through so many bottled waters every week. This product will make a wonderful addition to anyones kitchen sink! Great price! Looks classy. Working as expected This product is a new version of the one we got last year, which worked very well. This one seems even better (so far), as its flow rate seems to be (much) higher, and moving the lever to activate the filter has also gotten easier, which my kids especially like. Definitely a good buy, and a lot less hassle (and less expensive) than having to swap out a filter every 3 months, like the units that are Not disposable. -e No maintenance filter Great tasting water couldnt be easier! Attaches to any faucet and gives you clean water for over a year. When the red light comes on you just toss it and get a new one. Cant beat that for $25.00. compact & effective i live in jersey city. jersey city keeps running ads on tv announcing the fine quality of municipal water. the frequency of the ads tells me theyve been getting complaints...! i have no idea if its the municipal water supply or the crappy pipes in all these old buildings, but every house and apartment ive lived in here has had really, really crummy water where it matters: exiting the spigot and entering my cup. humidifiers have shut down on me, permanent silver coffee filters have clogged, the interior of hot water kettles have been coated in some strange particulate dust, and, frankly, i do not like my drinking water to smell like eggs and irons and chlorine! or to coat my tongue with something that leaves me with a metallic taste in my mouth for days on end! ive had pur and brita jugs before, and theyre fine but take up fridge space, require frequent refilling, require a wait while the water filters down, etc, so they have some performance/satisfaction issues for me. this faucet-mount disposable brita is *great*. it immediately took care of the taste and smell issues that werent completely taken care of by the faucet-mounted PUR filter id tried before that, it doesnt leak or squirt water back at me while im running water, its compact and doesnt get in the way of regular sink activities, and it doesnt look all that clunky. i installed it in august, and here it is in february with 0 issues. 6 months of good work and 0 maintenance or need for replacement. i am 100% happy with its performance. the only reason i didnt give it an all-stars rating on the whole was b/c its disposable instead of reusable. once the filter craps out, the unit needs to be replaced entirely. from a cost and environmental perspective, that means at *least* one star gets knocked off. a nice, easy to use filter I bought this filter in September 2007 and it lasted until the end of Jan 2008, thats 5 months. $30 for 5 months which is $6 per month for pure, tasty water. Its easy to install, no hassles, just make sure u screw it tight onto the faucet and that it doesnt leak. My water tastes great now, and i drink more water instead of soft drinks. There are 2 outlets, unfiltered water and filtered water, and a switch between both. You gotta make sure that you use cold water when filtering and not to turn the hot water tap on. 4 stars because they promise a life of 1 year, which isnt true. But, I like this very much and bought it again after the first one expired. Brita Disposable System I am happy with this product because it has lasted for as long as it was advertised to last. Hopefully, it is actually filtering everything that it claims to filter. The taste of the water is much more palatable than it is without this filter, so overall I am pleased. lots of plastic easily breaks and poorly hinges on faucets I bought one 5 months ago and it fit right on my kitchen faucet. I did not need to use the rings/rubber supplements that come with it as my kitchen faucet had rings on the outside and the filter was easily screwed over it. It works just fine as far as the filtration of water is concerned. The water tastes better than most other kinds of filters we have used and the green indicator light works fine, even the toggle between filtered and non filtered water is good. The only and the worst drawback is that the part that screws over the faucet is made of plastic and its rings become flat overtime and mine broke a month ago and I had to buy a new one. The new one seems to be working fine for now but I know that its plastic is wearing out and will break. I might try other kinds of filters this time. *ONE STAR* -WORKS ONLY FOR 2.5MONTHS [lots of plastic easily breaks and poorly hinges on faucets]-once burnt twice shy I bought one 5 months ago and it fit right on my kitchen faucet. UPDATE ON THE ABOVE EXPERIENCE I bought another of these filters, was able to screw it over the faucet and it worked alright for about three months but then the indicator light turned red (keeps blinking), thus warranting replacement. I have not been able to talk to BRITA customer service yet. I will not make the same mistake twice, er thrice. Answer to my Prayers Just finishing my first year with this item. It lasted that long for me, as I live alone. Love it, love it, love it. I have a nice deep sink so no problem using or getting around it. I also have a spray hose that takes care of rinsing things. How nice not to have that nasty plastic pitcher hanging around or having to change filters. It lives up to its advertisement. Am buying two more today because I am afraid they will stop making them. It Does NOT Work I live in a very old house with old, dirty pipes. When I dont filter my water, I get a disgusting film on the top of my tea. When I use a pitcher filter (with a NEW filter), theres NO film. In fact, I know its time to change the filter when the film comes back. The first time I used this filter, right out of the box: lots of film. Ive given it a week, and its just as bad as ever. Im taking it back today and getting another pitcher. (Which makes me mad, because Id tossed the only one thinking this would be easier). This filter simply doesnt work. People who say it works probably have decent water to begin with. IT WORKS! I just installed this filter system. The filtered water that comes out seems to taste better than the non-filtered tap water. So far, it seems like a worthwhile investment. boland7214@aol IT WORKS! I just installed this filter system. The filtered water that comes out seems to taste better than the non-filtered tap water. So far, it seems like a worthwhile investment. boland7214@aol Brita Disposable Faucet Filtration System The Brita disposable faucet filtration system has worked very well so far. My town water meets or exceeds water quality standards in all categories, but I do not like the taste, and sometimes there are lots of particulates in the water. I also wanted to stop using bottled water because of the expense and because of the recycling issues--I am trying to live "greener" in many ways. The Brita takes away the odor and taste that I do not like, and the water is clear when viewed through sunlight. I have it on my kitchen faucet and I did notice that you will need a faucet that is arched up to accomodate the filtration system and still be able to wash pots and pans and fill up tall containers with water. I do like the convenience of having as much filtered water as I want when I want it--the Brita pitcher did not work well in my house--we were all waiting for someone else to refill the pitcher! The installation is very simple--just screw it on your faucet--adapters are included in the kit. According to the literature that accompanied the kit, the filter should last about a year, although that depends on your water quality. I have been using mine a couple of months, and so far all is well. One feature I really like is the green light on the filter--it lights up when the filtration system is running, and it will turn to another color when it is close to time to get a new system. If the system does last close to a year, I will make significant savings over purchasing bottled water (approx. $520.00 per year). In addition, the $28.00 purchase price is close to the same amount you would pay for a replacement filter for many systems that do not last so long. Overall, it seems a great buy--Ill post again if the filter does not last at least 8 months. Excellent choice! by: Anonymous On: 2007-12-31 I had been using a Pur water filter for the past year. The Pur also attached to the faucet. I had not been pleased overall. Several of the filters did not last long: clogged up prematurely. Also, the unit leaked. So when I was on my last filter, I started to shop for an alternative and the Brita Disposable was my choice. It already had excellent reviews and was inexpensive (much less than the cost of the Pur filters), so I decided to try it. I have been very happy with this unit. No leaking, a strong flow of water, and it is also less obtrusive on the faucet than my previous filter. Like other reviewers here, I will be waiting to see how long it does indeed last for me. At this time, I have had it for one month. Definitely happy with this purchase! Saved us $37 a month, so far We bought this about five months ago after the monthly price of our bottled water went up considerably. We had been paying $30 a month, but then it went up to $37. When it arrived I was a bit disappointed in how much of it was plastic. It was a bit tough fitting it to the faucet, but it appears that may have been more to do with the age of the faucet itself. Once it was on, it has worked very well. Water tastes good, too. Even if this doesnt last up to 12 months, we would buy another. Bottled water, at least in our area, is just too expensive. Great but a bit bulky Having been spoiled on bottled water, the change was a little difficult. However, after hearing all of the negs about bottles and the environment, we decided to try this thing out. The good news is, it does what it says and so far weve had no problems. The installation was extremely easy and the green light is a nice touch. The only problem that I have with it is how bulky it is. Depending on the size and shape of your sink, it can get in the way of doing dishes and what not. However, overall, we are very satisfied with the product. Best for the price I compared the price and filtration capabilities for many water purification systems before I chose the Brita disposable. For the price, it simply cant be beaten. The difference in the taste & quality of our water is very pronounced. Were using less coffee per/pot and getting more flavor and distinctly reduced bitterness! Im very satified with it. The only reason I gave it a 4 out of 5 is it does tend to be in the way when doing dishes. Cheap and useless I bought this based on great customer reviews. Alas, the product I got doesnt screw on to my tap very well and water sprays out of the top. If you increase the water pressure, the whole unit falls off. After grappling with this for an hour, Im sending it back. Brita Disposable Faucet Like the product so far .... it is compact and works smoothly. Installation was easy as well. I am hoping that it lasts for a year as advertised. Excellent Product The Brita Disposable Faucet Filtration System is an excellent product. It is easy to install and easy to use. After 19 months of use, my first one is just now indicating that it needs to be discarded. I cannot buy the disposable model locally, and, rather than buy the type that requires a person change filters every few months, I have ordered the disposable system. Easy and Convenient Very easy to install. Works great. No problem with water pressure (which I had read from other reviewers). Works out to being cheaper than using the brita pitcher. Nice value! Great way to go green! We recently decided to cut down on water bottles, but we still wanted something more than straight tap water. I installed this on my laundry room sink in less than 5 minutes. It works really well and fills up our water bottles faster than the fridge water dispenser. I highly recommend this! So far so good We have had this item for about a month now. My kids dont like the taste as well as our old Sparklettes delivery. My husband & I got tired of paying for it & decided to try this. We like it but they think it tastes like tap. Cheap plastic ring....it broke It lasted one month before the ring at the top where it connects to the faucet broke. Cant fix it. Im out the money...never buy one again. Easy to install and well designed It took me 3 minutes to install the filter. It looks ok and it works as advertised. Very easy to use even for my 4 y/o. I have used the filter for 2 months already with no problems. Cant wait to find out if it really lasts for one year. Easy to install and well designed It took me 3 minutes to install the filter. Cant wait to find out if it really lasts for one year. clean easy water After years of leaving in rented housing in LA and a general dislike for tap water taste,I cant believe I did not get this product sooner! With an infant at home, Ive been buying cases of bottled water for the past months, but now that he is developing teeth, we required some fluoride on his water. The MD recommended Bottled water with fluoride, which is marketed for kids and more expensive and hard to find, or to get a Brita filter. This is a life saver!!! It does not take large awkward spaces in the kitchen and refrigerator, the water tastes great, preparing a bottle of formula is a breeze, easy to install, easy to know when is time to replace it. Highly recommend it. Works very well. This device works as advertised and was very easy to hook up. It comes with a couple of different faucet adapters so whether the threads of your current faucet are inside or outside, there should be an adapter to handle it. The green light to indicate that the filter is still good is especially nice. My only complaint is that the flow if decreased by about 60-70% when using the filter so it takes a while to fill up anything larger than a drinking glass. Other than that, great product. Nifty Little Gadget Im really happy with my purchase, and surprisingly it works great! The tap water where I live is horrible, it tastes like I put a rusty piece of metal in my mouth everytime I take a drink. After the growing environmental concern over water bottles, I figured I should give this a try. I was skeptical of how much better it would make the water taste, but it really makes a huge difference. Its maintenance free which is awesome, and its much cheaper then buying filters a few times a year for similar items. Its not extremely bulky which is also nice. I definitely think this is an exeptional product for the value! Great Product - Why Use Anything Else This is so easy to use, so low cost, and gives great tasting water - I dont know why anyone would bother with filters that have to be changed whether on a faucet unit or with a pitcher unit. I had used a Britta pitcher prior to the faucet unit [see note], and compared water taste... As good if not better with this disposable unit. I hope Britta will keep marketing this product because I would love to be able to continue to buy this. Note: I actually had used a Clearflow disposable faucet filter prior to this before Britta I guess bought them out, so I know the unit truly will last just as it says. Useful filter The water (San Jose tap water) tastes much better. There is no need for bottled water anymore. I have had the filter for about 2 months and I am very happy with it. I will buy the filter again once it expires. It's been one year, almost to the date... ...and its just now time to change it out for a new one. I LOVE this filter! The water is crisp and clean right out of the faucet. And since its disposable, I dont have to switch out a new $20 filter every few months! This thing works like a dream - never leaked once, and you can move the filter around when you need to rinse the sink out! I highly recommend this fabulous product! Excellent for the kitchen Easy to install and I use the filter all the time - I read about chlorine being bad for you so I use the filter to clean vegtables, fruits and when cooking. I feel it is an inexpensive way to safeguard my health. excellent!!! We love this new water filter compared to the old style of Britas. Not only is it great looking, the knob for filtering is much smoother to push and it also runs regular water much quieter. You cant beat the 1 year warranty from Brita. The price at Amazon was better than anywhere else. Simply great I have bought this product recently but I am loving it. There is introductory $10 MIR (MIR form comes with product) also on product so it cant be any better for quality product. only point to consider is that the faucet/sink you are planning to attach is having enough space beneath to do regular work in sink. Great Product! Ive had this product for a few months now and have no complaints. Easy to use and works great. Much better than the containers you keep in your fridge! |
