So cool in theory but didn't fit our faucet     On: 2009-08-12

I love this brand/style of water filter and have used it in our kitchen for years. Thought this would be a great one for the kids bathroom - save those trips out for drinks of water - but, alas, it did not fit the small, pedestal sink. Im sure if it had fit, it would have been AWESOME.
Works like a charm!     On: 2009-02-04

Im not sure why other people had such problems with their installation - I didnt have any trouble screwing this in nice and tight, and it hasnt leaked even a little bit. You just have to make sure the washer is positioned just right and then its totally leak-free. It has improved the taste and smell of my formerly toxic bathroom water by 1000%. The water in the bathroom used to taste so bad that I had to brush my teeth with bottled water - very annoying! - but thanks to this nifty gadget I dont have to do that anymore. I like the little fountain attachment too, though I agree with others whove said that it is wasteful that the water doesnt completely divert to the fountain from the faucet. Overall, Im really happy with this purchase.
bad design     On: 2008-08-19

the rubber piece for making a little fountain broke off quickly and after 1 month the thing just kept falling off my sink over and over .
Regardless of those things it limits the ammount of space you have in your sink since it faces downward.
Instead of getting clean hands I was getting them more dirty by rubbing them all over the sink while trying wash them in the little space I had left.

Look at filters tha mount on top of the faucet and do not face downward
They've stopped making it bec it's so bad!     On: 2008-08-06

I think the title says it all. This thing started breaking w/in the first week. Its supposed to last quite a while, and I called Brita when the red light came on after only a month. Its a throwaway, so no interchangeable filter. Lousy product, which is why they stopped making it I guess. Throaways arent green because theyre too wasteful. But no one else makes a bathroom faucet filter, so I guess theres an engineering problem. Too bad.
Will continue to buy this filter     On: 2008-01-14

I was hesitant about buying this based on what people had to say but I have had nothing but a pleasureable experience with this filter. I am not savvy about putting things together so I was nervous but I was able to hook it up in under 5 minutes which was a huge relief. People also said that it leaked, it does for the first 2 minutes until the water goes through enough times to wet the carbon inside and then its been fine they even said this inside the instruction booklet, there are no leaks. Brita is by far the best filter ever and I am very happy at the ease of use and the ease of installation, I would recommend this for anyone looking for a bathroom filter, for $20 it cant be beat, my water no longer has an odor and it tastes great.
Dont get what the fuss is about     On: 2008-01-03

Well, I had a different experience with my Brita. the first Brita that I got started displaying a red light just after 2-3 months. But I called Brita and they were very co-operative and helpful. Not only did they replace the filter for me (it arrived fast, within a week of me shipping it... and in case you are wondering the shipping was free - they sent me a free shipping label) but they also sent me a 10$ coupon to tide me in the meanwhile. I have had the second Brita for about 8 months now with no hassle whatsoever - its working fine, the water tastes great. By the way, it was very easy to install (no leaking water, no spraying fountains). You just really have to be careful of not running hot water through the filter. Its really convenient- give it a shot.
Not so good     On: 2007-12-29

The taste of the water was good but I had problems with the light indicator. The first filters light was red from the moment of installation. Amazon sent a replacement right away. I installed the second and the light was green at first but went to red within a few hours. The filter was probably good to use, just the indicator is malfunctioning. However, the indicator is important. Without it, how would I know when it is really time to replace the filter?

The drinking fountain is a good idea but when using it the water would continue to flow heavily from the filters spout, wasting a LOT of water. Im sending both back and forgetting about this model until Brita does a better job of diverting water from the filters spout to the fountain, and has a better indicator system.
pretty satisfied overall     On: 2007-10-11

Got this on a rebate deal to try out. Installed it about 3 months ago. Had to try a couple of different fittings but didnt find it too difficult. The water does taste better than what normally comes out of the tap. I keep some smaller-sized widemouth water bottles around that fit underneath it and I find it very conveient when Im spending time reading or watching movies upstairs.

The drinking fountain feature is handy but since the water is not completely diverted to the fountain stream, I tend not to use it much for fear of wasting the filter life. It does fit neatly under our tap and doesnt get in the way. It is a little flimsy-feeling but my husband and I are simply careful in handling it. Any faucet-attached filter should be handled with care anyway to avoid overstraining the faucet, so this is not a real problem in my opinion.

If it lasts at least 8 months I will feel I got a good deal, even without the rebate. Incidentally, the rebate check came back from Brita without any hitches, which was nice.
I think its great     On: 2007-09-08

Not sure why these other folks filters did not last so long - if you run hot water thru it, which it clearly states in the literature, then you will ruin it, and thats easy to do by accident. Even so, having done that a couple times without thinking, my bathroom filter only died after 10 months when I removed it and took it to another house - my kitchen unit is still going strong at more than a year with good-tasting water but I am going to replace it anyway just cause I think its time. Weighing costs of other filters, along with having to change them more often for other systems and ultimately commit them to landfills as well, I decided this was the way to go, but yes, when I buy my next house I will be installing a whole house filter to make the issue moot (I also have a filter on my shower at this point.) Its also easy to install - just follow the directions and be gentle with it . .
Filter doesn't last - water isn't clean.     On: 2007-09-07

Pros- Easy set up.

Cons- Filter only lasted 2 weeks, water came out of the purifier part
at too high of a pressure/lots of splatter, water didnt taste
improved at all, fountain portion was useless - it worked but
just sprayed water all over.

Conclusion - Dont get this. Sure, you can toss it when it dies on ya,
which will be in about 2 weeks - but pay more and get
something that actually WORKS and lasts...now I have a
3 stage PUR. And Im very very happy.

I rarely give bad reviews...unless the product truly disappoints. This one sure did.
Horrible waste of money     On: 2007-09-04

This product is cheaply made with a less than well thought out design. The piece used to attach it to the faucet is plastic and with the slightest bump to the filter it will either fall off completely or spray water all over the counter (our kitchen mount filter from Brita is the same way). The fountain seems like a novel idea, but its borderline useless. The biggest issue with this filter, being that we dealt with all these shortcomings and still got by with using it, was that it lasted 3 and 1/2 weeks from installation. The filter was used solely for drinking maybe 2 times a day on average and there was never a time that anything but cool water was run through it.

I would not waste my money on this again, nor would I suggest Brita to anyone else. I had previously purchased a Pur water filter that attached securely and had a decent filter life and for which we had no complaints. Ill be going back to Pur.

Also, the idea of a disposable unit seems extremely wasteful to me, especially if you have to replace it every month (I bought mine form another site that didnt state they were disposable). Brita has an online campaign to up their filter sales that is disguised as a call to end the consumption of plastic bottles. This idea of having a disposable unit seems to go against their supposed concerns over the environment and the overconsumption of petroleum products (the entire unit is made of plastic and CANT be recycled as a plastic water bottle could).
Not worth the $     On: 2007-08-19

I may be wrong, but at 16oz. a day, this filter is only good for about 45 gallons of water. I dont see that lasting a year in any normal household, do you? Youre better off bringing a glass of filtered water to your night table from the kitchen like the rest of us...

p.s. What do they mean by "disposable"? That seems to be a very subjective term these days. If I werent renting I would take the money I spend on water filters and invest it in a water filter system for the house and enjoy filtered water out of every tap, as well as the shower/bath, and laundry.
No Problems Here     On: 2007-05-22

It fits fine on my sink, no leaks at all. The one problem I do have is finding where this is sold besides at BJs, where it was sold and online. My wife made me get and now I cant drink the water from my kitchen sink with out it!
Very easy to install     On: 2007-04-12

It took a few minutes to put in place and more important the water coming out of the tap really taste 100% better - the chlorinated taste is gone. I enjoy drinking water straight from the tap now.
Best bathroom upgrade; great for whole family     On: 2007-04-06

Ive had mine for a number of months and its fantastic. The drinking water spout (it shoots up just like a fountain) is fantastic for brushing teeth, quick drink, taking pills, etc. Late at night I dont have to venture out to the kitchen for a quick drink of water. Kids love it too - and you cant complain at something that gets kids excited about drinking water, let alone cleaner, filtered water.

Yes, it needs a little re-tightening here and there, but its not a big deal. Its designed to be disposable when the filter runs out (After about a year), so I didnt expect it to be something thatd last forever. Cant imagine not having one in the bathroom anymore.
Piece Of Garbage     On: 2006-11-22

No wonder this thing is cheap compared to Britas other products. The threads that hook onto the faucet are weak and easily stripped from simple hand tightening, not to mention they try to stick this rubber washer in it thats just about the same size of the screw-on apparatus attached to this item resulting in the whole thing popping off soon as you turn on the water. I cant say enough bad things about this piece of useless junk.
Not Worth It     On: 2006-09-24

Difficult to install, doesnt fit right, water sprays all over the place once it is installed. Then it only lasted for 1-2 months with minimal use - three bathrooms in home. Not 12 months as claimed. Waste of money.
Brita Disposable Filter     On: 2006-08-23

Difficult to install and needs re-tightening after one or two uses.
Not satisfactory.
Nice Try     On: 2006-08-10

Nice idea but item only lasted a month before the red light for the filter came on -rather than a year. I did not over use it either. I washed my hands about once a day and when I brushed my teeth I would only turn it on to rinse my toothbrush. Also the fountain part doesnt work anymore either. Maybe a factor of the filter being dirty there isnt enough pressure for it. I plan on contacting Brita on this matter. See what they say.
