First I thought my dry skin was from hard water. But my water wasnt hard. Next I evaluated chlorine. I thought the chlorine was very irritating to my skin so I researched shower filters.

I was very skeptical because the water filtration industry is full of a lot of crap and misinformation! A deciding factor was this article which appeared to provide a more balanced and fair review of some shower filters out there.

(............)

So I bought the Vitashower VS-1. Here is what I think about it. I havent tested yet, but the absence of chlorine in my shower water is very noticable. No chlorine smell, much less irritating water and experience. The unit installed without any problems and the new larger capacity should last me about 1 year. I had no problems with the quality of construction despite all being plastic.

My skin is MUCH MUCH less irritated now. If your skin is sensitive to chlorine you will love one of these. If you dont notice the chlorine in your shower now, you will probably be wasting your money on one of these.

The device uses vit. C to convert the chlorine and chloramine to HCL which is hydrochloric acid. Fortunately the quantity is so small that there is no problem with it. It makes your shower water just slightly more acidic which was enjoyable when I experienced it. The vit. C also gives your shower water a very, very slight vit. C. smell which I found pleasant.

Now that I know chlorine sensitivity is my problem, I am investigating a whole house chlorine filter which would be much more convenient and economical.
