I love that I can fill my pasta pot with filtered water now when I want to. I dont have to plan ahead to make sure my filter pitcher is full, empty it into the pot, refill it, wait for it to filter, empty it into the pot, etc. until my pot has enough water in it. It works well and the filter is easy to change. The indicator light makes knowing when it replace it a breeze. I also bought the fridge filter for our ice-maker, since they take the same filters and I only have to remember the one model number. One note: when first installed, the water looked cloudy from all the air bubbles, but that went away after filling a few glasses. Great system! Weve had the Culligan EZ change filtration system for a couple of years now. It was easy to install and super easy to change the filters. Water tastes great. Were very happy with this purchase! Good for the price Good filter, great for the price. Didnt like the plastic spigot so I got a metal one from a older filter I had. It has been working fine for a month now. Love the taste of the water. Great filter This water filter came with everything that I needed to intall it and it works great. I was worried about leaks with the way the plumbing hooks up but it has been leak free! I would recommend. Clean & Delicious My husband installed this product over an existing hole in the sink for a faucet sprayer (which didnt work anyways, so I was glad to be rid of it). Apparently drilling a hole into a stainless steel metal sink isnt as easy as it may sound (wed asked around for some advice) - youll need a strong drill, drill bit and a strong steady hand so the bit doesnt jump and stutter over your sink, marring the surface. The faucet mount isnt too shabby nor is as bad as some of the reviews make it out to be. Growing up, my always had the "press down" type of faucet for filtered drinking water, so the "turn the fatty knob to the lower left" is a little weird - not very user friendly. If it gives out, Ill update the review and probably just buy a different one with a "press down" handle. But so far so good! The water tastes delicious and the flow rate isnt too bad - its exactly what I expected for a water filter. Buyer Beware I purchased this product and after 9 months the inside of the faucet split in half. The resulting flood caused a huge mess. This is a poor quality product, I would strongly recommend spending a little extra money to purchase a filter system that does not use plastic inside the faucet assembly. Easy Peasy Great product, if you have basic knowledge in how to operate a screwdriver then you can install this under the sink just drill a 3/4" hole in your counter(I did it thru my fiberglass sink, was easier that thru the wood counter!)no extra parts to buy, everything is included. well worth the price and the class 3 filter protects from tumors that can develop from chemicals in the water table!(saw it on the Dr. Oz show)You dont have to be a plumber and my wife could have installed it. It really is a no-brainer! Culligan Under-Sink Water Filter Im overall pleased with this product. I now have convenient high quality drinking water at my kitchen faucet. This takes the place of bottled water, saving both the cost of bottled water and the disposal of many, many plastic bottles. My only criticism is the flow is reduced quite a bit but its not a big issue. Greater flow could be achieved by Culligan making a bigger surface area filter, and bigger diameter tubing. I think the filter is the choke point but the small 1/8" tubing could also be contributing to the pressure drop and reduced flow. All in All Not Bad Well, the other reviewers helped me with my purchase of this item. Indeed, the faucet that comes with this system is cheap chromed plastic. Secondly, the way the system is designed, the water pressure from the home water pipe keeps constant pressure on the filter and enclosure. I dont believe that is a good idea. The Faucet I used was one that has three water lines attached to it. One line goes to the cold water adapter, one to the "in" line for the filter and the other the "out" line to the faucet itself. The Faucet I used only lets water to the "in" feed of the filter when the faucet is turned on. This method only pressurizes the filter when clean water is required. In fact, the faucet is the one that comes with the PUR undersink system. I had an extra one and gladly so. It made installation quick and easy. Consider using the faucet that has this functionality. Water dispensing is slow, but same as PUR. exellent water flavor is amazom. this filter it is the most important investment that I ever made because is not a spensive product and I saving money every week because I use to buy a cuple of cases every week and now Im drinking delicious water at sheep price I only need to change the filter every 6 months make the mathematic and youll see what Im saving thanks Amazom . Good filter, lousy faucet I bought this unit to replace my old Pur under-sink filtering system, for which replacement filter cartridges could no longer be purchased. While I dont have any issues with the quality or performance of the Culligan filter (water looks and tastes fine), the faucet included in this kit is junk. Its made entirely out of plastic, while the faucet that came with my Pur was solid brass. Also, the Culligans design has the filter connected directly to the water supply, so the filter is always under pressure. The Purs design had the supply connected to the faucet, which acted as a shutoff so the filter was only under pressure when the faucet was on. Given this, I simply reused my Pur facuet with the Culligan filter...works great, and no worries of a flooded kitchen. Id suggest that anybody buying the Culligan also buy a quality water filter faucet to go with it...many manufacturers make them. Installing the filter was easy...two screws to mount the "head" to the cabinet wall, and 1/4" plastic quick-connect fittings for the input and output lines. Easy installation, water tastes good Weve used a Pur faucet-mount filter for years, since renting an apartment and installing an undersink water filter just dont mix. Now that were homeowners, I wanted to lose the big faucet-mounted unit and install something sleeker. For the price, this filter is hard to beat. The installation process took me around 15 minutes, but our sink already had a hole for the spigot. I was careful not to crank down on the spigot mounting nut, since everythings plastic, and other reviews mention problems with this piece. The irony is that we have a metal spigot to use, but the threading on the stem is different, and I wanted to finish the installation. Im tempted to just get the right hardware to have on hand, in case the plastic spigot gets damaged, but its fine so far. Honestly, I wish Culligan would either leave the spigot out altogether, or include a sturdier one, but installed properly, the system works right out of the box. The water tastes as good as the Pur faucet-mount filter, too, and while it runs slower, its still fast enough for us. Not all that thrilled The unit is awfully cheaply made, not too surprising for what it costs. Installation was pretty easy, as long as you can fit under the sink. But Im getting such low flow out of the unit that we very seldom even use it. Flawed design may FLOOD house I would HIGHLY recommend that nobody install this water filter regardless of price & if you have one already installed, that you replace the spigot assembly ASAP. I had one of these in my house and it lasted about a year before leaking. Luckily we noticed the leak under the sink quickly before major water damage. As other have said here, the design is severly flawed and hazardous. I am an mechanical engineer and am absolutely AMAZED that anybody would design this product as it is. It is beyond incompetence, it is gross negligence. The bottom threaded stem is nylon, which on its own, although problematic, is not a fundemental flaw. It is the way they attached the plastic to the rest of the assembly, using a plastic to plastic bond that is highly stressed when installed. The assembly is made such that the attaching joint is stressed by the main mounting nut and any other forces on the facet head (ie usage, cleaning, accidental bumping when wiping sink or filling pots). Overtightening during installation or bumping the facet will either break, or worse, initiate a flaw in the joint, which over time will surely open up into a major leak at any random time due to the mounting nut stress being concentrated at the flaw and material creep. If this leaks into a hidden under-sink area or while you are away, you may incure massive flood damage to your home. Replace the spigot with a metal one. I used an inexpensive all metal GE one which will surely outlast my kitchen. Very Poor Construction Purchased a Culligan US-EZ-3EZ from Amazon on March 12, 2009. After completing our kitchen renovations, our plumber attempted to attach the element to our new counter today, August 21,2009. To our dismay, the flimsy attachment screw just snapped off with just a few turns of the nut. I am very disappointed because I purchased this under sink water filtration system because it was rated quite high in some publications. The element probably filters very good but what good is this if the attachment materials are made of plastic and not even sturdy enough to attach the unit. I definitely will not purchase another Culligan product!! Very good product From the installation of the product to its use, this product is great for the price. The only drawback we found is even after letting the water flow through for about 10 minutes, the water still tasted a little unusual. It was only after a few days did it begin to taste fine. Average Performance Drinking water faucet is made of chromed plastic. The plastic button on the handle falls out and can be easily lost. The rate of water flow is frustratingly slow. To fill a 12 cup coffee reservoir takes several minutes. This flow rate is begining to degrade as time passes (30 days) since installation. The installation was not too bad, but I had to purchase a new flexible faucet supply line because the adapter for the filtration system shortens the path between the water supply valve and the cold water stub on the sink faucet. Also, a watch style battery comes with each filter cartridge, but they do not tell you how/where to install it. It goes in the plastic faucet handle, but the polarity is a crap shoot. If you put it in backwards, the cartridge timer light glows red. Putting it in the other way, the light goes out, so I suppose it starts a six month timer and then turns on. Water tastes excellent using a US-EZ-3 style cartridge with well water. good value I was using Brita pitcher and Brita faucet mount before. I wanted more economical and neat looking way to get rid of iron taste (our water is well water and the pluming is old). This unit works great. We also install the sediment filter on upstream though, the taste of water comes out of this faucet is as good as Brita filtered water. Installation was easy, and the faucet comes with is great looking. After a month, This unit is still giving good flow rate which is faster than Brita Faucet mount I was using before. But I imagine enough water pressure needed on upstream of this unit so if you have clogged old pluming on upstream, you may not get desirable flow rate. too slow i wanted to return it because the water is only dripping out of the faucet however its been over 30 days so i cant the water tastes pretty good and the filter seems to do its job but it comes out so slow that it is unusable. Good buy This water filter system installed easily. I dont notice any chlorine smell in the water, so I feel its working properly. The instructions dont say anything about the battery & the light in the spigot base. I put the battery in & the light flashed a few times, then went out. Im assuming that when the light comes on... itll be time to change the filter? Hey Culligan Man This system was installed after the Pur one was discontinued and the filters were getting too expensive and harder to find. The EZ-change filter is a vast improvement over the Pur and the filters last longer. Hard to beat for ease of use (better faucet) and price. Thanks Culligan Man! |
